What facial data we process

Temporary Image Processing Only

When you voluntarily upload a facial photo for ethnicity analysis, we temporarily process the image to extract visual features such as facial structure, skin tone, eye shape, nose shape, and other physical characteristics.

No Biometric Database

We do NOT collect, store, or create any facial recognition databases, biometric templates, or unique identifiers from your facial images.

No Facial Recognition

We do not use facial recognition technology to identify individuals. The analysis is purely for ethnicity estimation based on visual features.

Voluntary Upload

You explicitly choose which photos to upload, and photo library access requires your permission through iOS settings.

How we use facial images

Facial images are used exclusively for ethnicity and ancestry analysis based on visual features. Here’s the exact processing flow:

1. You select or capture a photo within the app
2. Image is compressed to maximum 1024px dimension for faster transmission
3. Image is sent via encrypted HTTPS to third-party AI providers
4. AI analyzes facial features and returns ethnicity estimates in text/JSON format
5. Results are displayed on your device
6. Image is immediately and permanently deleted from all systems

Images exist in temporary memory for approximately 5–15 seconds during active analysis only. Images are NEVER used for advertising, marketing, AI model training, facial recognition, or any purpose other than your requested ethnicity analysis.

Where facial images are stored

On Your Device

Images exist only in temporary device memory (RAM) during the active analysis session. They are NEVER written to device storage, cached, or saved to the file system.

On Our Servers

We operate NO backend servers. We have no infrastructure to store, archive, or retain your images.

Third-Party APIs

Images are transmitted via encrypted HTTPS directly from your device to AI APIs. They process images transiently and do not permanently store them on our behalf. Images are never saved in a way that would be included in device backups or iCloud sync.

Facial data retention period

Retention Duration: ZERO — No retention whatsoever.

• 0–3 seconds: Image selected and loaded into device memory
• 3–8 seconds: Image transmitted to AI provider via HTTPS
• 8–15 seconds: AI processing and analysis completion
• 15+ seconds: Image completely cleared from all memory

When you exit the analysis screen or close the app, iOS automatically deallocates all memory, including any temporary image data. Images are never saved to UserDefaults, CoreData, file system, or any persistent storage mechanism.

Your rights & control

• Photo Library Permission: Control access via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos
• Camera Permission: Control access via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
• Voluntary Upload: You choose which specific photos to analyze — we never access your library automatically
• No Data Requests Needed: Since we don’t store images, there are no facial images to provide, modify, or delete upon request
• Immediate Exit: Close the app at any time during analysis to immediately stop processing and clear memory
• Revoke Permissions: Revoke camera/photo access permissions at any time in iOS Settings

Security measures for facial data

• Transport Encryption: All image transmission uses HTTPS with TLS 1.3 encryption
• No Man-in-the-Middle: Direct device-to-API communication prevents intermediary data capture
• Memory-Only Processing: Images never touch persistent storage layers (disk, database, file system)
• Automatic Deallocation: iOS automatically clears memory when objects are no longer referenced
• No Screenshot Capture: Facial images are not captured in screenshots or screen recordings

Educational & entertainment purpose

AI-Based Estimates

This app uses artificial intelligence to analyze facial features and estimate potential ancestry. Results are based on visual pattern recognition and are for entertainment and educational purposes.

Not DNA Testing

This app does not perform genetic testing or DNA analysis. Results are estimates based on facial feature analysis only.

Accuracy Limitations

AI-based facial analysis has inherent limitations and may not accurately reflect your true genetic ancestry. For accurate ancestry information, we recommend professional DNA testing services.

Cultural Sensitivity

We respect all cultures and ethnicities. This app is designed to celebrate human diversity, not to stereotype or categorize individuals.

Regional privacy rights

Our privacy practices exceed the requirements of major regulations worldwide. Here’s how we comply with each.

International data transfers

If you use the app from outside the country where our AI provider’s servers are located, your image may be temporarily transmitted across international borders for processing.

• Temporary Transfer Only: Images are only transferred for the duration of processing (5–15 seconds)
• Encrypted Transit: All international transfers use end-to-end HTTPS encryption
• No Storage: No data is stored in any international location
• Immediate Deletion: Photos are deleted immediately after processing regardless of geographic location

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify users of significant changes through app updates. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy will always reflect the most recent version. Your continued use of the app after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
